Extracting gases, vapors, liquids, and dusts
in hazardous areas

Stationary Systems and Specialized Mobile Vacuum Cleaners

Not every substance can be safely captured using the same extraction and filtration principle. Gases and vapors place different demands on filtration technology than dry dusts, liquids, or reactive metal dusts.

EVOTEC offers stationary extraction systems as well as mobile compressed-air and inert gas extractors for various processes and hazard zones.
The appropriate solution is tailored to the medium, the specific area, the type of extraction, and operational requirements.

Every medium requires an appropriate security strategy

Whether the process air is contaminated with gases or vapors, explosive dust, liquids, or reactive metal powders: To ensure safe detection, both the medium and the process must be considered together.

EVOTEC combines various extraction, filtration, and separation principles with equipment designs tailored to each specific application.

Which medium is extracted in which ATEX zone?

Gas Explosion Protection, Zone 1

II 2G Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb

Gas Explosion Protection, Zone 2

II 3G Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gc

Dust Explosion Protection Zone 21

II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db

Dust Explosion Protection Zone 22

II 3D Ex h IIIC T135°C Dc

Depending on the process, combinations of different media or zones may also occur. For example, it may be necessary to extract solid particles or liquids in a gas explosion-protected zone.

EVOTEC offers solutions tailored to these needs, taking into account both the zone and the extraction medium.

Gases, Vapors, and Odors in Zones 1 & 2

For gaseous process substances, stationary extraction systems with high-capacity activated carbon filtrationare available.

The contaminated process air is collected via hose or pipe systems and passed through activated carbon cartridges or activated carbon cassettes. A downstream particulate filter captures any dust that may escape from the activated carbon stage.

Solid particles in zones 1/21 & 2/22

For solid and potentially explosive particles, stationary extraction systems or mobile compressed-air vacuum cleaners are available, depending on the type of extraction . The filtration technology is tailored to the type of dust, the required filter class, the airflow capacity, and the process.

For continuous data collection, the FEX 5000 PRO.4 EX-KS, for example, can be used.

Alternatively, EVOTEC offers portable compressed-air vacuum cleaners for flexible cleaning of machines, work areas, and floors, as well as for removing accumulated debris.

Liquids in Hazardous Areas

Compressed-air-powered industrial vacuum cleaners are used to collect liquids in sensitive or potentially explosive areas.

The suction units have no electrical drive components and feature a float system to monitor the liquid level. Tiltable stainless steel tanks facilitate easy emptying.

Reactive and Explosive Metal Dusts

Dust from aluminum, titanium, copper, and similar materials can be reactive and requires a specially tailored separation method.

For inert suction devices from EVOTEC , the drawn-in medium is bound and passivated in a liquid bath. A degassing valve prevents the uncontrolled buildup of gases and vapors. Additional VA and H14 filter stages ensure reliable post-filtration.

Stationary extraction systems for safe use in ATEX Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22

Capture process air directly at the source

EVOTEC’s stationary FEX and IPA systems are designed for the continuous collection of contaminated process air via hose or piping systems.
Depending on the medium and application, various cartridge and activated carbon filter systems are available. The systems can also be integrated into the customer’s existing piping, machinery, and control systems.

Specialized Solutions for Mobile Recording Tasks

Specialized mobile vacuum cleaners are used when materials are not continuously collected by a stationary system but need to be flexibly collected from machines, containers, workstations, or the floor.

The EP models used here operate with compressed-air ejectors. This eliminates the need for electrical drive components in the device. An external compressed-air supply is required for operation.
